Why “La Neta” ?

In Spanish, La Neta translates to “the truth” — the real, unfiltered version of things. That’s exactly what this podcast is about. It’s not just a catchy name — it’s a commitment. A commitment to honesty, to vulnerability, and to having the kinds of conversations we don’t always get to have in our community.

As first-generation Latinos, we grew up in a world where a lot of things went unspoken — mental health, identity, grief, growth, dreams, pressure, even love. There’s power in the stories we carry, but too often we’re taught to bottle them up, to stay quiet, to "keep it moving." La Neta was created to flip that script.

This podcast is our way of holding space — for our truths, for yours, and for all of us navigating life in-between cultures, expectations, and generations. Whether it’s solo moments, real conversations with guests, or spontaneous reflections on everyday life, everything here is rooted in sincerity. We talk about the things that matter, even when they’re hard to say. Sometimes it’s deep, sometimes it’s hilarious, sometimes it’s uncomfortable — but it’s always real.

This is for anyone who’s ever felt stuck between two worlds, anyone who’s healing out loud, and anyone ready to hear and share la neta.

And as part of the JM Media umbrella, La Neta lives alongside our other creative projects — all dedicated to building community, showcasing identity, and telling stories that matter.
